The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has disclosed that Aero Contractors paid a total of N257,195,724.39 in refunds to passengers from January to August 2025, marking a significant increase from N108,308,037.40 in 2024 and N32,766,652.30 in 2023.

The authority shares these figures on its X handle on Friday, highlighting a 137% rise year-over-year and noting the airline’s additional expenditure of N6,083,229 on hotel accommodations from January to July 2025, verified at locations including Cocos Hotel, Grand Cubana Hotel in Abuja, NOCY Castle Hotel, Kim Royal Hotel, JC42 Apartment in Asaba, and Mayor & Diplomat Hotel in Lagos.

The NCAA attributes this progress to improved compliance with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023, stating, “The figures show that there is a remarkable improvement in compliance.”

The authority reassures stakeholders of its commitment to protecting their rights despite operational challenges.

This development, set against Nigeria’s aviation sector’s efforts to enhance passenger protections since the 2023 regulations, reflects growing accountability amid past refund delays.
